The composition shifts between abstraction and recognition, holding a tension between beauty and something more visceral beneath the surface.

Shoebox is rooted in an early memory of childhood - an encounter with loss that was not yet fully understood. The painting reflects that moment where curiosity and innocence meet the reality of mortality, where the unknown becomes something to explore, question, and return to again and again.

Rather than depicting the memory directly, the work carries its emotional imprint: a sense of discovery, unease, and transformation. It invites the viewer into that space where beauty and discomfort coexist, and where meaning evolves through time.
